Insight Education Centre now delivers a curriculum linked weekly swimming program for all blind and vision impaired children in Victoria. The School Years Swimming Program runs on Saturdays and Early Years (0-5) Familiarisation Program on Fridays at the North Lodge Swimming Academy, teaching the essential elements of Early Years sensory water play and familiarisation through to swimming techniques for both Primary and Secondary students – whilst delivering important components of both the Expanded Core and Australian Curricula.
Early years children and school-aged students do not need to be currently attending Insight Education’s Specialist primary School, Mobile Classroom program or Satellite School hubs to participate in the school’s swimming programs and there is no charge for families to enrol in our School Years or Early Years swimming programs.
All swimming lessons are held at North Lodge Swimming Academy, 137 Stud Rd, Dandenong VIC 3175.
This Program was made possible through the generosity of North Lodge Swimming Academy and the Rotary Club of Greater Dandenong, who donate their time and skills to the children every week.
“North Lodge Swimming Academy and Greater Dandenong Rotary Club feel privileged to have the opportunity to deliver this program for Insight Education Centre for the Blind and Vision Impaired and hope that each and everyone involved in the program feels inspired and has a positive outcome from the experience.”
This program is a fantastic opportunity to ensure that blind and vision impaired students in Victoria are not only safe in the water but are confident in participating in aquatic activities with access to a school-based program which develops water familiarisation and swimming skills, helping to ensure that they are equipped to enjoy the water throughout their lives.
